MobileAction alternative for indie developers
Searching for Mobile Action or MobileAction? It is ASO and Apple Ads software for two stores. AppHitlist is an iOS-only tool for judging which apps to build.
// SUMMARY
MobileAction is app-store marketing software for the App Store and Google Play: ASO plans with public prices, a free Apple Ads manager, and custom-priced ad intelligence and API. AppHitlist is narrower. It is an iOS-only tool for indie developers who want daily chart estimates, Meta ads and complaint themes to find and judge app ideas. It does not manage Apple Ads campaigns.
// CHOOSE MobileAction IF
- You need Google Play as well as the App Store. Its homepage and pricing page name both stores.
- ASO is the job. Its ASO plans list keyword research, volume and difficulty, metadata analysis and ranked-keyword reports. Higher tiers add competitor keywords and localization.
- You run Apple Ads. It has a campaign manager with automations and MMP integrations, and a free plan for up to $10,000 monthly ad spend (as listed on their site in October 2026).
- You answer reviews. Basic adds review sentiment analysis and AI reply generation to reviews.
- You need an API. API Solutions is a separate product with 80+ endpoints, and an MCP server is available to API customers.
// CHOOSE APPHITLIST IF
- You are deciding what to build, not how to rank a finished app. Discover filters apps by genre, release date, ads, rating and price.
- You want revenue and download estimates, active Meta ads and complaint themes on one app page.
- You want complaint themes from 1- and 2-star App Store reviews, not review sentiment on your own listing.
- You want one paid plan with everything, and a free account to look around first.
- You want daily saved App Store charts with climbers and new entries on the day they happen.

| Revenue estimates | ASO plans mention revenue performance monitoring and organic and paid download analysis. The pages we read do not describe the method or an accuracy figure. | Revenue and download estimates from our own algorithm over Apple's public chart lists, updated daily. They can be wrong. |
| Ads | Ad Intelligence is a separate, custom-priced product. Its pricing page cites 90M+ ad creatives, 45+ ad networks and DSPs and 10+ countries, without naming networks. Search Ads Intelligence covers Apple Ads. | Meta ad creatives, longest-running first within each app. Meta Ad Library data for EU/UK. Not a spend tracker. |
| Reviews | Rating and review analysis from Lite, review sentiment and AI replies on Basic. The review alert can filter by star rating. | 1- and 2-star App Store reviews grouped into complaint themes. Feature requests for your own apps, competitors and watchlist. |
| Keywords | The core of ASO Intelligence: volume, difficulty, AI suggestions, ranked-keyword reports. Plans cap keywords at 100 (Lite), 500 (Basic) and 1,500 (Pro). | Popularity (latest US Apple Ads score or an estimate from search suggestions) and difficulty. Track keywords of your own apps and their App Store search rank once a day. |
| Alerts | Custom alerts by email or Slack, daily, weekly or monthly, in eight types such as reviews, ratings, keyword ranking changes and app updates. Only for apps in Tracked Apps. | Email when the rank, ads or revenue estimate of a followed app change. Daily or weekly digest. |
| History and caps | ASO history is 3, 6 or 12 months by plan. Lite tracks 5 apps and 3 competitors per app; Pro 10 apps and 15 competitors per app. | Rank history on every app page. Competitor tracking has limits per app. |
Price and who each plan is for
MobileAction publishes prices for ASO Intelligence only. As listed on their site in October 2026, Lite is $15 a month ($12.5 a month billed yearly), Basic $69 ($59) and Pro $239 ($199). Its help center says yearly billing is 2 months free. Everything else, including Ad Intelligence, API and managed services, is contact-sales.
Its plan labels say Lite is for individuals starting ASO, Basic for individuals or small teams and Pro for teams looking for more growth. The pricing page says 5,000+ mobile app and game companies trust it. AppHitlist has no tiers: a free account to look around, then one paid plan.
Ranking an app versus choosing one to build
MobileAction answers the question "how do I get this app found?" You pick keywords, watch your rank, tune metadata and run Apple Ads. If you already ship an app and live in the store listing, that is the better fit.
AppHitlist answers an earlier question: "is this niche worth a month of work?" You filter apps released in the last six months that already made a revenue chart, open the ads they run and read what users complain about. Say you are weighing a habit tracker against a budgeting app. You compare the complaint themes of the top three in each, then decide.
Where MobileAction's own pages disagree
A few numbers differ between its pages. The homepage says 5M+ tracked keywords, while the API block on the pricing page says App Store data on 2M keywords and Google Play data on 2M+. Enterprise ASO lists ad creative insights in +40 ad networks, while Ad Intelligence says 45+.
The Lite card also shows a 7-day trial button, but the FAQ names that trial for Basic and Pro. We quote each page as written and do not pick a side. Confirm trial terms on the checkout screen.

// FAQ
Questions people ask
Is MobileAction free?
Only the Apple Ads campaign manager has a $0 plan, for up to $10,000 monthly ad spend, as listed on their site in October 2026. ASO Intelligence has no permanent free tier. Its cards show a 7-day free trial button; the pricing FAQ names a 7-day trial for Basic and Pro. Billing details are required, and you are not charged if you cancel before the trial ends. AppHitlist has a limited free account.
Is there a cheaper alternative to MobileAction for indie developers?
It depends on the job. MobileAction ASO Lite is listed at $15 a month, or $12.5 a month billed yearly, in October 2026. If you need keyword tracking for a live app, that covers the ASO job. AppHitlist does a different job, researching which iOS apps to build, so it replaces only part of MobileAction. Check the AppHitlist plan price before you compare.
Does MobileAction have an API?
Yes, as a separate product. API Solutions is custom-priced, and its homepage says 80+ endpoints. The docs say an MCP server needs an active API Solutions plan and an API key, and uses the same credits as the REST API. A blog post dated 14 August 2026 says MCP is available to all API customers. The help center says the API is not a self-serve ASO add-on.
Can AppHitlist replace MobileAction for ASO?
Only for part of it. AppHitlist shows keyword popularity and difficulty and tracks where your own apps rank in App Store search once a day. It covers the App Store only, does not manage Apple Ads and has no Google Play data. If your work is mostly store listing optimization or Apple Ads, MobileAction is the closer match.
