// Competitor tracking

Track Your App's Competitors on the App Store

Put your app next to the apps you compete with. See where they earn more, rank for terms you miss, or start running ads.

// WHAT IT IS

AppHitlist's Competitor Tracking compares an app you own with the apps you compete against. One table shows price, rating, revenue estimate, download estimate and active Meta ads side by side, and a keyword gap list shows terms where a rival ranks near the top and you do not. Email alerts report changes in a rival's rank, ads or revenue estimate.

// WHAT YOU GET

What you get

See exactly where you trail

The comparison table and positioning map plot rating, number of ratings and revenue estimate for you and each rival, so the gap is visible at a glance.

Find keywords you are missing

The keyword gap list shows terms where a competitor ranks in the top results and your app does not, with popularity and your own rank next to each term.

Notice what rivals ship

Recent activity lists each competitor's new versions and new ads, so you learn about a launch from your screen instead of from a customer.

Skip the daily manual check

Follow an app and AppHitlist emails you when its rank, ads or revenue estimate change. One daily or weekly digest replaces a pile of bookmarks.

// HOW IT WORKS

How it works in three steps

  1. 01

    Add your own app first

    Competitors are tracked against an app you own. Add it under Your Apps, and add the keywords you want to rank for.

  2. 02

    Add the rivals

    Pick from suggested competitors, which are apps in your category or apps that rank for your keywords, or search for any app by name.

  3. 03

    Read the comparison and turn on alerts

    Switch between Overview, Keywords and Activity. Follow the rivals that matter and choose daily or weekly email.

// WHO IT IS FOR

Who it is for

Solo developers with a live app

You have one app and two or three rivals that worry you. Watch them without opening their pages every morning.

Studios planning an update

Before you pick what goes into version 2, check what the apps you compete with ship and which keywords they hold.

Marketers running App Store optimization

You need keyword gaps and rival changes in one view when you rewrite a title, subtitle or keyword field.

// GOOD TO KNOW

Good to know

Competitor Tracking needs the paid plan and an app you have added under Your Apps. Each app and each account has a cap on how many competitors it can follow. Revenue and download figures are estimates from Apple's public chart lists, so a rival's real numbers can be higher or lower. Ad data comes from the Meta Ad Library for the EU and UK and does not show spend. Keyword gaps appear once keywords are tracked, and ranks update once a day. iOS App Store only.

// FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I track competitors of my app on the App Store?

Add your own app under Your Apps, then open Competitor Tracking and add rivals from the suggestions or by searching for them. You get a table with price, rating, revenue estimate, download estimate and active ads, a positioning map, a keyword gap tab and an activity feed. Revenue and downloads are estimates.

What is a keyword gap?

A keyword gap is a search term where a competitor ranks in the top results and your app does not. AppHitlist lists each gap with the term's popularity, your rank and which rivals hold a spot. It works from the keywords you track, so add your important terms under Your Apps first.

Can I get an email when a competitor changes rank or starts new ads?

Yes. Follow the competitor's app and AppHitlist emails you when its rank, ads or revenue estimate change. You choose a daily or weekly digest, and you can turn alerts off in account settings or from the unsubscribe link. Email alerts are part of the paid plan.

How many competitors can I track per app?

There is a limit per app and a limit per account, and both depend on the paid plan. The Competitors page shows how much of each limit you have used, so you see it before you hit it. Remove a rival you no longer care about to free a slot.
