data.ai alternative: what to use now

data.ai, formerly App Annie, now shows a login page that says it was acquired by Sensor Tower. If you still search for a data.ai alternative, this page covers what is left and what an indie developer can use instead.

// SUMMARY

data.ai, formerly App Annie, was acquired by Sensor Tower in March 2024. On 9 October 2026 its website is a login page headed “We've Been Acquired by Sensor Tower”, with no public product description or pricing. AppHitlist is a self-serve option for the Apple App Store only: daily chart history, estimated revenue, Meta ads and complaint themes, with a free account and one paid plan.

// CHOOSE data.ai IF

  • You already have a data.ai login. The login page was still up on 9 October 2026.
  • Your company has a contract that came through data.ai. Its site does not say whether a separate subscription can still be bought, so ask Sensor Tower.
  • You need Google Play or enterprise-scale data. Sensor Tower says it unified the core data of both companies in July 2025, so that is where those datasets live now.

// CHOOSE APPHITLIST IF

  • You want a public product you can open today, with a free account, and not a legacy login page.
  • Your apps are on the Apple App Store and you do not need Google Play.
  • You research what to build: filter by genre, release date, ads and rating, and look at apps that already made a revenue chart.
  • You want Meta ad creatives and complaint themes from 1- and 2-star reviews next to the revenue estimate.

What happened to data.ai

Sensor Tower announced on 18 March 2024 that it had acquired data.ai, formerly App Annie, for an undisclosed amount. The press release describes data.ai as a platform that served more than 1,400 clients and over 1 million registered users, founded in 2010 in San Francisco.

In July 2025 Sensor Tower wrote that its core data and data.ai's had officially been unified. Its App Performance Insights FAQ adds that a 2025 data pipeline combines both companies' panels and models.

What the data.ai site shows today

On 9 October 2026 the site is a login page with the line “We've Been Acquired by Sensor Tower” and a copyright note reading “a Sensor Tower company”. A register page and a password-reset page still exist, and the register form teases premium areas such as downloads and revenue, ASO and advertising, and prospect lists.

The site does not say whether a separate data.ai subscription can still be bought, what a free account contains, or what the product covers today. We could not find a public price, and we are not going to guess one.

What to use instead, by job

For enterprise market data or Google Play, the closest route is Sensor Tower itself. For keyword work, AppTweak is an ASO-first tool, and Appfigures adds your own store data. Each has its own page here.

AppHitlist fits a smaller job: seeing which iOS apps are earning, which are climbing, what users complain about and which Meta ads keep running, without a contract. It is iOS only, and its revenue figures are estimates.

Information about data.ai comes from its public website (data.ai), checked October 2026. Features and prices change, so check data.ai for current details.
