THREE MAHJONG RULE SETS Hong Kong mahjong The Cantonese-style game many players know from family tables in Hong Kong. Draw, discard and build your hand toward a win. If you grew up around Hong Kong mahjong, this mode will feel like home. American mahjong Our American mahjong mode uses the studio's own American-style rules. American-style play is built around a card of hands, and in Pet Mahjong you can set up custom American mahjong cards and play toward the hands you choose. Switch between Hong Kong, American and Vietnamese mahjong whenever you like. One app, three ways to play. QUICK START FOR BEGINNERS 1. Choose your avatar and name. Pick a pixel-art cat or dog and type your name. You can change both anytime in Settings. 2. Pick a rule set. Not sure? Start with the style you've seen played at home. 3. Read the table. Each seat shows its points, and the center shows the round wind and how many tiles are left. 4. Draw and discard. On your turn, take a tile and let one go, keeping the tiles that bring your hand closer to a win. 5. Watch what your opponents throw away. Discards tell you a lot about the hands around the table. 6. Try the other styles once one feels comfortable.
